What is its origin ?
The shea tree is a tree found in wooded savannahs in West Africa . It produces a fruit, composed of a nut , also called an almond , which will be extracted to make shea butter. This fruit is also called “women’s gold”. Indeed, historically, it was harvested by women. Its cultivation takes a long time, since you have to wait 15 years before the tree produces its first fruits.

In what qualities can we find it?
Commercially, many qualities of shea butter are available: raw, pure or refined . It's difficult to navigate. In your notes, we explain everything to you!
- Raw or pure shea butter has not undergone any transformation , it is that which is obtained by traditional extraction . Thus all of its properties are preserved. It has a nutty odor, its color is yellow or gray and its texture is melting.
- So-called “refined” shea butter is a product that has been extracted at very high temperatures with or without the use of petrochemical solvents. This will be deodorized and rid of its color. Its more lumpy texture will also be different.

- Melt a walnut in a bain-marie directly in the palm of your hands
- Apply it to your hair, paying particular attention to the ends.
- Wrap your hair in a towel dampened with hot water and leave it on for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- You can then rinse your hair and do your usual shampoo right away or the next day so that the shea butter acts all night
